AR Squall Line Jacket
Let’s be straight up…there aren’t many pieces of gear that would stand a chance against the sea and weather conditions described by Sebastian Junger in The Perfect Storm. Not clothing, not 3/8” thick steel hulls. So please, don’t misinterpret the juxtaposition of our Squall Line Jacket with this terrific read…our jacket will not save you from the perils of a misgauged storm. What it will do is keep you dry and comfortable under most nasty conditions thanks to our proprietary and exclusive DryHandle, 100% cotton weatherproof fabric. To handle the speed and intensity of summer squalls, we chose our 8 oz. DryHandle. Many of the standard foul-weather details have been slightly exaggerated, like the height of the collar, the width of the weather flap over the front zipper, the addition of a weather flap behind the front zipper and the width of the snap-over flaps on the two front pockets. We’ve also widened the sleeve-cuff gusset opening to increase mobility. Critical seams are double-needle top-stitched and all stress points are thoroughly reinforced with bar-tack stitching. Inside is a nylon mesh liner that covers fully both front panels and half the back panel. The hood folds down and stows neatly in a zippered compartment behind the collar. A drawstring hem gathers the broadly cut body and guard against updrafts.
