New favorite

I want to thank Engle and Victoria for such a well made workhorse of a shirt.
First- I emailed to ask the status of shipment after placing the order and Engle got right back to me. Excellent customer service.
The quality of this shirt is some of the best I’ve seen. This is the type of shirt that makes you work in it to make it feel and fit even better with time. The more you work it, the better it treats you.
I’m 6’2 and 245 athletic build and I ordered an XL. The sleeves are long enough that they don’t slide up when I lift my arms and the length is perfect below the belt.
The shoulders are wide and comfortable for all movements and it does not look like a box. I wore it today comfortably with a thick filson thermal waffle shirt underneath - was perfect.
You will not regret getting this piece of armor- it will last you a lifetime.

Great shirt for the shop.

I think these shirts are for the slim / fit - and being a bit (a lot bit) over the slim shape, the fit is a bit on the tight size. Solution - just move up to the next size. The sleaves are also on the long side - but they are designed that way I assume so you can roll them up. If not - not a big deal to roll them up.

Even so - love the quality and material.

Comments: I purchased the 25th anniversary vest in a size 2xl. Unfortunately I am a little larger than the vest and I can't fit in it. Hopefully in the future there is less of me and I will be able to enjoy the vest.
Quality shirt

The shirt has a beautiful color and is very well made. I'm sure it will provide years of great wear.

Comments: Love the quality of your products. Buttoning this ONE Boatyard shirt I have is a bit difficult. I have no trouble with any of the flannel shirts I have.
Very tough work shirt!

I have only had the Boatyard shirt for a few wears, but it fits well and looks great. Probably the thickest button down work shirt I have but no where near as thick as a shirt jacket. The shirt is a bit stiff, but I'm thinking that will change with a few times through the wash. The buttons are not as easy to do as other shirts, like the flannels I have from Atlantic Rancher. I am hoping that will change with use and washings as I love wearing this shirt! I ordered a medium and it fits my frame well (6'1", 152 lbs, 38" chest, 31" waist, size 40 suit.)

The Boatyard Shirt Story

This shirt is the sistership to our Boatyard Pant and Boatyard Jacket…both birthed at the Marblehead Boatyard, 89 Front Street, circa 1995, and inspired by the wily cast of characters we fondly recall as the Boatyard Boys: Lars, Dinzi, Jake, and a few others we can’t mention.

The backstory on this build is not one I admit often, as it involves an uprising of sorts staged by the Boatyard Boys telling me our shirts were now being made for and worn by the fancy lads at the Eastern Yacht Club and no longer fit for serious yard duty. “Wouldn’t be caught drowned in one of ‘em they told me." These rumblings soaked for a few weeks and after many after-work sessions around the community beer bucket, I finally got it out of them: “those nifty plaids shirts you’re passing off as work shirts ain’t work shirts.”

Alrighty then Boys, here you are…a tugboat of a work shirt you’ll die working in because it’s not one you’re going to outlive.

And what a bruiser of a shirt it is. It wouldn’t be so if not for the 100% cotton, 10oz heavy twill base fabric…you just will not wear through it. This build has doubled-up shoulder coverings, wrist-to-elbow wear patches, a sturdy built-up collar, extra tall chest pockets with snap closures and new, only available on this shirt, our signature dog-house button closure configuration. And to honor the Boatyard Boys unique sense of fashion, the shirts are garment dyed in their favorite colors: khaki, olive, burgundy and navy.

The Original Boatyard Shirt, one of our finest moments, is being reintroduced now as the 25th Anniversary Edition, even though we’re a little late due to all the s**t going on in the world.  Each shirt carries the25th Anniversary Edition label and is marked with its unique serial number identifier.

People Usually Ask

1. Where are your products made?

All of our shirts, pants, outerwear, sweater, belts and moccasins are made in Portugal, mostly in the same shops we've been working with for over 25 years. Our hand-sewn leather goods, hats and a few other items are made in America.

2. How would you describe the fit of your clothes?

Our fit is what we call contemporary, meaning they're not overly baggy or boxy, but have ample room and freedom of movement. Also, our outerwear is uninsulated, or very lightly insulated. It's cut with enough room to allow you to layer underneath, with a sweater, a vest or even a light down-filled jacket. For us, layering is always the way to go!

3. Will your shirts and pants shrink after washing?

Simple answer is no. All of our shirts and pants are pre-shrunk. At most you will experience a 2% shrink factor after washing and drying.

4. What is DryHandle®?

Dryhandle® is a 100% cotton, weatherproof fabric that we develop in 1995. Starting with 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton the thread is very tightly woven resulting in a fabric so dense that it's thornproof and, even at this stage, surpasses the U.S. government test for rainwear. The fabric is then impregnated through the proprietary DryHandle® process which irreversibly transforms the cotton fibers themselves to make them inherently water-resistant and stain-resistant. Unlike oiled or waxed cotton fabrics, DryHandle® is extremely lightweight, has no odor, won't stain other clothing or upholstery and resists stains from hard use and long wear. Despite being water-resistant, the weave contains millions of microscopic pores that vent moisture, making DryHandle® garments exceptionally breathable and comfortable to wear.

5. How long does delivery usually take?

Orders received by 2pm PST are usually shipped the same day. In most cases we ship via USPS Priority Package, and orders to the East Coast typically arrive in 4 days or less. West of The Mississippi orders arrive in 2-3 days.

6. How do i reach the founder of the company?

Easy! You can email him (that would be me, Engle) at engle@atlanticrancher.com or you can call me at 206-919-0943. I am around most of the time, but i miss you, I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

7. If an item is out of stock will you let me when it's available again?

We maintain an active "wait list." So when you send a message asking to be notified when the item, color and size becomes available, we actually do something worthwhile with your request. We catalog your request and email you once the item becomes available again.

8. Who writes your copy and are the stories true?

The answer to the first part of this question is: me, Engle Saez, founder of the company. For part #2...there's an old adage that applies here: "you can't make this shit up." And I will just say that the stories I tell are as true as I can make them and as accurate as my memory allows. That's a true story...

9: Where did the name Atlantic Rancher come from?

The origins of our company's name is a long story, one will share in blog post at some point. But for now, all should know that we are forever grateful to Susan Turner for her original and very creative idea.

10: How do I return or exchange a item?

Returns are easy, but please follow our process. Email us at orders@atlanticrancher.com, include your order number in the subject line and tell us what you'd like to return and why. We'll review your return request and email you a RMA (return merchandise authorization) with the return-to shipping address. Please be sure to package your item(s) thoughtfully so goods aren’t damaged in the process. Select and use the carrier of your choice as return shipping is not covered by us. Please select “signature required” to ensure your return package is receipt confirmed.

We’ll let you know via email when your package has been received, inspected and your refund is issued. Refunds usually take 5-10 business days to process.

If you need to exchange an item, the best process is this: 1. Place a new order for the item you want. 2. Return the item you don't want to us, following the process outlined above.
