George's Bank Parka System

Shelter from the storm.

For centuries, Georges Bank has been the premier destination of offshore fishermen. It’s known as both the most fertile body of water on the planet, as well as the most treacherous. It is there that, starting in late fall and continuing throughout the winter months, swordfish and tuna congregate in huge numbers to feed on the extraordinary abundance of baitfish driven there by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. One of the prerequisites for survival out there on board, or God forbid in a liferaft, is staying warm. And you just can’t stay warm if you’re not dry. Our Georges Bank Parka System combines two of the most natural and time-proven components of doing just that: DryHandle, our 100% cotton, weatherproof fabric that has, for the better part of this century , been keeping people and things dry…and goose down, nature’s inimitable insulator.

Like the tough feathered armament on the chest of a Canada Goose, the ¾ length DryHandle shell keeps the removable goose down inner jacket dry and protected from the wind and abrasions of everyday wear. Seams have been minimized throughout the entire shell to enhance overall protection from the elements. The full-length, Vison front zipper is covered by a double storm flap closure that snaps over itself forming a weather tight seal. The two front pockets and side-entry chest pocket are inset with ample fold-over weather flaps that close with hook-and-loop fasteners. The sleeve cuffs open to a full 8-1/2” across and can be adjusted with snap closures to a snug fitting 5-1/2” diameter. Inside, the DryHandle shell is fully lined with lightweight acetate. Two large interior chest pockets are secured with button closures. The drawstring cord at the hem adjusts for a tapered fit and the goose down hood detaches from behind the broad, 4-1/2” collar with snaps. Of course, on less demanding days, you can part with the goose down liner and wear the shell by itself…it’s very roomy without the liner and will accommodate a sportcoat just fine.
