Women’s Waterproof Leather Ranch Coat

Cowgirl in the sand

Some distance off the coast of Maryland and Virginia lays Assateague Island, a 37-mile long barrier island that is the free-range home to a herd of wild horses known as the Chincoteague Ponies. The herd survives solely on indigenous grasses, mainly saltmarsh cordgrass and American beach grass. Every summer, for as long as anyone can remember, a group known as the “saltwater cowboys” makes their epoch swim to the island from the mainland for the annual round-up. To survive, the herd must be maintained at 150 adult animals. Most of the foals are auctioned off and the remaining horses swim back to the Island.

This century-old association between man and horse is a romantic and primeval exhibit of mutual enrichment and the inspiration for Our Waterproof Leather Ranch Coat. The lines are simple and whisper rather than shouting their elegance. The hides used here are full-grain, waterproof French goatskin. The subtle top-grain texture is natural, not printed…solely a function of the tanning process. Two ample front pockets with broad weather flaps and one left chest pocket with button-through flap closure. Fully lined in nylon quilted over a thin layer of insulation.

Horses. Whispers. Salt air. Barrier islands. Sand. For cowgirls everywhere.

Dangit!...I really like this idea. Let me know when it's available again:
