DETAILS

WEAR IT AS A SECONDARY LAYER, INDOORS AND OUT – This is a versatile, transition garment that works equally well indoor as it does outdoors…on-watch in the wheelhouse minding the radar or on-deck pulling pots in 25’ salty rollers.

FITS SNUG TO THE TORSO…AS A VEST SHOULD – Vests must be fitted just so…otherwise they’ll bunch up around the neck, back and around the armhole. This one gets it just right

DURABLE & DEPENDABLE – The 100% Virgin Wool yarn is woven in Portugal into a tightly compacted fabric that is substantial, durable and will not stretch out. It is then brushed for a soft hand-feel.

LIMITED EDITION – Our 25th Anniversary Longliner Vest is a limited production run, each is marked with a unique serial number identifier.

On deck or below, our Longliner’s Wool Vest is a warming companion in a place where companions are few and the only things warm are the manifolds in the engine room.

We don’t use a 3rd. fulfillment house to process your order. We pick, pack and ship all orders ourselves from our own warehouse. If we receive your order by 12pm PST, we usually ship it to you that day. Otherwise it will ship on the following business day.

On occasion, we'll be out living our Atlantic Rancher life and shipments might be delayed by a day or two. If and when that happens, we will reach out and let you know.

Returns

Returns are easy, but please follow our process. Email us at orders@atlanticrancher.com, include your order number in the subject line and tell us what you'd like to return and why. We'll review your return request and email you a RMA (return merchandise authorisation) with the return-to shipping address. Please be sure to package your item(s) thoughtfully so goods aren’t damaged in the process. Select and use the carrier of your choice as return shipping is not covered by us. Practical Comfort

Warm, soft and useful. This is, IMO, not a great fashion vest. It is not a fitted street-style vest for hipsters. This is for work and warmth. It has good pockets. Good lining. Good finishing. It works. If you want something that will serve you, even if nobody is watching, this is for you. I own half a dozen Filson vests. This one is of equal quality and more functional in my life.

Quality & Customer Service

The most important concern for me as a consumer is the quality of the product, the second is Customer Service, Atlantic Rancher is a 5 star company, highly recommend the wool vest.

Comments: I wish I could have tried it on . Unfortunately it’s a touch big. Is there a way to return for smaller size ?
I dream about wearing this vest

This vest has exceeded my expectations. The quality is top notch. It functions perfectly and looks great . My only concern is I feel like I could have used a smaller size.

hi Steve...of course you can return for a smaller size. Your can return / exchange within 30-days so long as the garment hast not been worn, washed, and is as in new condition.

Comments: I hope you restock that Rancher sweater soon. If the vest is any indicator, I hope to make that my next purchase - they’re clearly popular, selling out fast
Versatile addition to any winter wardrobe

If you’re looking for a versatile piece of kit to add to your cage, get this. It has heft and is warm, but isn’t “thick” or puffy, so it can be worn as an effective outer layer, or equally well as an underlayer. It holds form, but has just the right amount of give and stretch to allow vigorous movement. I op-tested it under a light jacket usually good down to about the low 40s, did a little snow shoveling in single digit temps… almost too warm. Later did a four mile walk to the grocery store and back, same conditions, and was perfectly insulated. Carrying slung bags over shoulders was easy - the vest didn’t bunch up or get in the way, and when removing the top layer it looked great as it’s own outer layer (pockets and more).

Most Excellent Vest

Solid quality and great looks. Have received a lot of compliments on the vest. Most importantly it provides that extra layer of warmth with pockets in all the right places.

The Longliner Wool Vest Story

Excerpt from our 1998 catalog

A Haulin’ They Go!

From Dutch Harbor, Alaska, to Gloucester, Massachusetts, the fishing if best when the weather is at its worst…late Fall and Winter, that’s just the way the cycle runs. And if you work hard and can accept the risks, there’s ample reward to be had. It’s not for everyone. The U.S. Department of Labor ranks commercial fishing as the most dangerous occupation in America.

People Usually Ask

1. Where are your products made?

All of our shirts, pants, outerwear, sweater, belts and moccasins are made in Portugal, mostly in the same shops we've been working with for over 25 years. Our hand-sewn leather goods, hats and a few other items are made in America.

2. How would you describe the fit of your clothes?

Our fit is what we call contemporary, meaning they're not overly baggy or boxy, but have ample room and freedom of movement. Also, our outerwear is uninsulated, or very lightly insulated. It's cut with enough room to allow you to layer underneath, with a sweater, a vest or even a light down-filled jacket. For us, layering is always the way to go!

3. Will your shirts and pants shrink after washing?

Simple answer is no. All of our shirts and pants are pre-shrunk. At most you will experience a 2% shrink factor after washing and drying.

4. What is DryHandle®?

Dryhandle® is a 100% cotton, weatherproof fabric that we develop in 1995. Starting with 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton the thread is very tightly woven resulting in a fabric so dense that it's thornproof and, even at this stage, surpasses the U.S. government test for rainwear. The fabric is then impregnated through the proprietary DryHandle® process which irreversibly transforms the cotton fibers themselves to make them inherently water-resistant and stain-resistant. Unlike oiled or waxed cotton fabrics, DryHandle® is extremely lightweight, has no odor, won't stain other clothing or upholstery and resists stains from hard use and long wear. Despite being water-resistant, the weave contains millions of microscopic pores that vent moisture, making DryHandle® garments exceptionally breathable and comfortable to wear.

5. How long does delivery usually take?

Orders received by 2pm PST are usually shipped the same day. In most cases we ship via USPS Priority Package, and orders to the East Coast typically arrive in 4 days or less. West of The Mississippi orders arrive in 2-3 days.

6. How do i reach the founder of the company?

Easy! You can email him (that would be me, Engle) at engle@atlanticrancher.com or you can call me at 206-919-0943. I am around most of the time, but i miss you, I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

7. If an item is out of stock will you let me when it's available again?

We maintain an active "wait list." So when you send a message asking to be notified when the item, color and size becomes available, we actually do something worthwhile with your request. We catalog your request and email you once the item becomes available again.

8. Who writes your copy and are the stories true?

The answer to the first part of this question is: me, Engle Saez, founder of the company. For part #2...there's an old adage that applies here: "you can't make this shit up." And I will just say that the stories I tell are as true as I can make them and as accurate as my memory allows. That's a true story...

9: Where did the name Atlantic Rancher come from?

The origins of our company's name is a long story, one will share in blog post at some point. But for now, all should know that we are forever grateful to Susan Turner for her original and very creative idea.

10: How do I return or exchange a item?

Returns are easy, but please follow our process. Email us at orders@atlanticrancher.com, include your order number in the subject line and tell us what you'd like to return and why. We'll review your return request and email you a RMA (return merchandise authorization) with the return-to shipping address. Please be sure to package your item(s) thoughtfully so goods aren’t damaged in the process. Select and use the carrier of your choice as return shipping is not covered by us. Please select “signature required” to ensure your return package is receipt confirmed.

We’ll let you know via email when your package has been received, inspected and your refund is issued. Refunds usually take 5-10 business days to process.

If you need to exchange an item, the best process is this: 1. Place a new order for the item you want. 2. Return the item you don't want to us, following the process outlined above.
