DETAILS

WEAR IT AS A SECONDARY LAYER, INDOORS AND OUT – This is a versatile, transition garment that works equally well indoor as it does outdoors…on-watch in the wheelhouse minding the radar or on-deck pulling pots in 25’ salty rollers.

FITS SNUG TO THE TORSO…AS A VEST SHOULD – Vests must be fitted just so…otherwise they’ll bunch up around the neck, back and around the armhole. This one gets it just right

DURABLE & DEPENDABLE – The 100% Virgin Wool yarn is woven in Portugal into a tightly compacted fabric that is substantial, durable and will not stretch out. It is then brushed for a soft hand-feel.

LIMITED EDITION – Our 25th Anniversary Longliner Vest is a limited production run, each is marked with a unique serial number identifier.

On deck or below, our Longliner’s Wool Vest is a warming companion in a place where companions are few and the only things warm are the manifolds in the engine room.

Product Story

The Longliner Wool Vest Story

Excerpt from our 1998 catalog

A Haulin’ They Go!

From Dutch Harbor, Alaska, to Gloucester, Massachusetts, the fishing if best when the weather is at its worst…late Fall and Winter, that’s just the way the cycle runs. And if you work hard and can accept the risks, there’s ample reward to be had. It’s not for everyone. The U.S. Department of Labor ranks commercial fishing as the most dangerous occupation in America.

On deck or below, our Longliner’s Wool Vest is a warming companion in a place where companions are few and the only things warm are the manifolds in the engine room. The 100% Virgin Wool shell is fully lined with sateen quilted to a 100 gm Primaloft® insulation. Traditional button front placket closure; two, deep handwarmer pockets; zippered side-entry chest pocket.

The second layer you did not know you needed.

7 Weeks of Colorado Winter, and 4 Weeks of Germany and a weekend in Prague. So I figure sure I can say that this is hands down the best winter vest I have ever owned.

Warm, and comfortable. Buy with confidence.

Ole School American Vest!

Been a life long fan of Woolrich vests! But they’ve sold out to Wokeism. Luckily and thankfully Atlantic Rancher hasn’t, continuing to make products forged in the fires of the American Spirit for the rugged untamed souls amongst us. Atlantic Rancher will have you returning time and again for their quality gear.

Warmest Vest I Own

I have many vests that I wear when the weather gets cool. I can’t help it, I like vests. I have suede vests, cashmere vests, wool vests, alpaca vests. I have vests from Ralph Lauren, Peter Millar, and others. But the warmest vest I own is from Atlantic Rancher. It also looks great. You can’t beat that. The fit is true to size as are the compliments I receive when wearing it. It comes in three colors. I chose the rust (brown) one. Extremely pleased with my choice. If you’re looking for a classy vest that not only looks great but also keeps you warm, well then, I highly recommend the Atlantic Rancher Co. Longliner’s wool vest. You won’t be disappointed.

BODACIOUS VEST

I have Vests from Filson, Carhartt, LL Bean, Columbia and I'm sure I have missing a few others; but the A&R Longliner's Wool Vest (25th Ann) is by far THE BEST VEST I have ever purchased / own. The fit is perfect, I like it because the body length is not designed for giants. I'm 5'6' and weigh about #190 with a bit of a Grandpa gut and a 46" chest, the XL fits perfect, looks GREAT and feels magnificent.

My first order was a Large and after trying it on I thought it fit just a little snug on me so I returned it for the XL. I liked it so much I bought the other two colors.

You can't go wrong with this vest. Extremely high quality.

I'm just waiting on my refund for my original purchase.

Wow what a vest!

Ordered the 25th Anniversary Longliner vest for myself. I know it’s a men’s vest but I couldn’t find one I liked for women anywhere. I decided who cares, I like the look and need warmth. So glad I did. The quality is impressive and it fits perfectly. I love it! I also have a Hudson Valley full zip hoodie which I also love. Thank you for the quality and workmanship.

A loop to hang up would be nice.

Bulletproof Vest

Just received my vest. This is beautiful the craftsmanship is top notch. It’s far heavier than I expected without being at all bulky. Truly a work of art. Can’t wait for it to cool off enough to start actually wearing it in anger.

You’ll Never Need Another Vest

This was my third try to buy a vest that fits well, and I am not disappointed. The sizing is perfect. Every aspect of the item is what you want; the arm holes, length, materials, and even the delivery is worth it. The fabrics used are top of the line, and you feel the difference between this vest and something you would buy, let’s say in the $50-$100 range. I’m in Los Angeles, and it’s July, so I can’t wait for the winter.

Fully vested

The quality of this vest is beyond compare, almost. I can compare it to the first one I bought. The quality of this vest is fantastic, I bought another one in rust. I use them both indoors and outside. They hug your torso and add that little extra warmth.
Thank you Atlantic Rancher for another great product. Keep um coming

Comments: Only one. I’m 6’2” and if the vest was a couple inches longer, I’d love it more.
Top Notch

Everything about this vest is top notch, the fabric, seams, buttons (I love the buttons), pockets, lining. Comfortable, practical, warm, smart looking, it’s all you could want in a vest. I’m looking forward to many years of use.

People Usually Ask

1. Where are your products made?

All of our shirts, pants, outerwear, sweater, belts and moccasins are made in Portugal, mostly in the same shops we've been working with for over 25 years. Our hand-sewn leather goods, hats and a few other items are made in America.

2. How would you describe the fit of your clothes?

Our fit is what we call contemporary, meaning they're not overly baggy or boxy, but have ample room and freedom of movement. Also, our outerwear is uninsulated, or very lightly insulated. It's cut with enough room to allow you to layer underneath, with a sweater, a vest or even a light down-filled jacket. For us, layering is always the way to go!

3. Will your shirts and pants shrink after washing?

Simple answer is no. All of our shirts and pants are pre-shrunk. At most you will experience a 2% shrink factor after washing and drying.

4. What is DryHandle®?

Dryhandle® is a 100% cotton, weatherproof fabric that we develop in 1995. Starting with 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton the thread is very tightly woven resulting in a fabric so dense that it's thornproof and, even at this stage, surpasses the U.S. government test for rainwear. The fabric is then impregnated through the proprietary DryHandle® process which irreversibly transforms the cotton fibers themselves to make them inherently water-resistant and stain-resistant. Unlike oiled or waxed cotton fabrics, DryHandle® is extremely lightweight, has no odor, won't stain other clothing or upholstery and resists stains from hard use and long wear. Despite being water-resistant, the weave contains millions of microscopic pores that vent moisture, making DryHandle® garments exceptionally breathable and comfortable to wear.

5. How long does delivery usually take?

Orders received by 2pm PST are usually shipped the same day. In most cases we ship via USPS Priority Package, and orders to the East Coast typically arrive in 4 days or less. West of The Mississippi orders arrive in 2-3 days.

6. How do i reach the founder of the company?

Easy! You can email him (that would be me, Engle) at engle@atlanticrancher.com or you can call me at 206-919-0943. I am around most of the time, but i miss you, I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

7. If an item is out of stock will you let me when it's available again?

We maintain an active "wait list." So when you send a message asking to be notified when the item, color and size becomes available, we actually do something worthwhile with your request. We catalog your request and email you once the item becomes available again.

8. Who writes your copy and are the stories true?

The answer to the first part of this question is: me, Engle Saez, founder of the company. For part #2...there's an old adage that applies here: "you can't make this shit up." And I will just say that the stories I tell are as true as I can make them and as accurate as my memory allows. That's a true story...

9: Where did the name Atlantic Rancher come from?

The origins of our company's name is a long story, one will share in blog post at some point. But for now, all should know that we are forever grateful to Susan Turner for her original and very creative idea.

10: How do I return or exchange a item?

Returns are easy, but please follow our process. Email us at orders@atlanticrancher.com, include your order number in the subject line and tell us what you'd like to return and why. We'll review your return request and email you a RMA (return merchandise authorization) with the return-to shipping address. Please be sure to package your item(s) thoughtfully so goods aren’t damaged in the process. Select and use the carrier of your choice as return shipping is not covered by us. Please select “signature required” to ensure your return package is receipt confirmed.

We’ll let you know via email when your package has been received, inspected and your refund is issued. Refunds usually take 5-10 business days to process.

If you need to exchange an item, the best process is this: 1. Place a new order for the item you want. 2. Return the item you don't want to us, following the process outlined above.
