Story:
Excerpt from our original 1995 catalog:
“Belting leather…not as obvious at it may sound. Leather for making belts? Yes, but the kind of leather we are talking about here was more commonly found around the clutch wheel driving the cutting blade on an old sawmill machine. Of course, vulcanization changed all that…made rubber so it wouldn’t crack and split. Now you had a suitable replacement for leather. In some cases, yes, others no. We still like real belting leather around our waists! Like the original stuff, we cut our Rancher Belts only from the backs and butts of the hide where the leather is firmest, has the tightest grain and will have the least amount of stretch. The buckle is serious enough. The line splicing detail on each end of our belt owes its origins to maritime ropework.”
