I have had this shirt-jacket for about three months, and I like to spend time with my gear before writing a review. This is another excellent piece of gear from Atlantic Rancher. The shirt-jacket has improved with wear. It has broken in and now feels more comfortable than it did when it first arrived. As I expected, since I have several other things from AR, it is very well made. When I took it out of the packaging, there were no loose threads or misaligned stitches. The double stitching throughout is noted on the site, but it is a detail worth emphasizing. My wife is the seamstress, so I may not have the terminology exactly right, but the pockets are seam-bound, with twill tape fabric inside to help prevent the tops from unraveling. On the sleeve the adjustable cuffs have two positions, which is especially useful when wearing work gloves.
The details are what keep drawing me back to AR gear: deep pockets for everything you did not realize you needed to carry, shoulder gussets for easier movement, and a layered rear vent that allows airflow without feeling exposed.
Lastly, the shirt-jacket simply looks good. I get compliments when I wear it. It is built as a workhorse piece of gear, but it also works well as a casual jacket for the office on days when a heavier coat would be too much. I also appreciate that it does not have a hood, since I have other jackets for days when I know I will be out in the rain for long periods.
