"Uncle Jack" Sheimreif is the original Atlantic Rancher and the inspiration for our company. Living a simple, rewarding life with purpose and integrity was his thing. When he was first featured in our catalog in 1995, folks would ask me: where did you find that “model”? I laughed of course as we’ve never used models and was amused those folks didn’t get he was my uncle. Throughout the years, Uncle Jack has inspired many of our products…the Barnegat Bay Cruiser, the AR Fleece Bomber, our clam and oyster shucking knives, the AR cast iron bottle opener and our sea salt rubs just to name a few. However, he rarely wore our clothes. He’d tell me, “Why would I when the one I’s got suits me just fine?” That is until I showed him one of our Bayman’s Blanket-Flannel Shirt and then things changed. He could have had any, but his pick-‘o-the-litter was this one. He was so tied to this shirt he wore it like a uniform…tonging for clams on Great Bay, NJ and rigging sailfish baits in Stuart, FL.
We reached way back into our Vintage Locker and photos of Uncle Jack to remind of this tugboat of shirt we first built in 1995, The Bayman’s Blanket-Flannel Shirt. Beware, this is not your casual-at-the-office kind of shirt, unless of course your office is choring on the back 40, huntin’ in the bay or fishin’ offshore. No, this shirt is more a piece of gear than it is clothing.
Fabric selection is the key here. We’ve woven this fabric from a hefty, 10oz yarn-dyed 55 cotton/45 linen blend. Why linen? Because linen is 30% stronger than cotton and lasts longer…as in years longer than cotton on its own. The patterns are vintage all the way. We’re making less than 100 shirts in total this season...so if these shirts are your thing, make ‘em your thing quickly.

Uncle Jack’s Blanket-Flannel Shirt is a reintroduction using archival fabric. We’ve made 140 shirts in total in this small batch production run. Quantities are limited to available fabric and will not be restocked.

We don’t use a 3rd. fulfillment house to process your order. We pick, pack and ship all orders ourselves from our own warehouse. If we receive your order by 12pm PST, we usually ship it to you that day. Otherwise it will ship on the following business day.
Returns & Refunds
If you aren’t happy with what you’ve purchased from Atlantic Rancher, you may return it to us in like-new condition within 30-days of purchase and we’ll process a refund for the full purchase price of the item(s) being returned.
Returns after the normal 30-day window are for store credit only.

Love the weight and texture of this shirt! Have had it now since 11/23! I wear it "AGAIN?" according to my wife which means ALOT! I don't iron it and usually let it hang dry except for today it got lumped in with everything and still looks great! Not a snag, pile, or any issues....tough as nails!

Uncle Jacks blanket flannel shirt is now one of my all-time favorites. The material is like nothing I've ever seen or felt. You'll want to sleep in it. I bought both patterns/colors now and would buy any shirt made of this material. I hope they come out with more colors in the future.

This may possibly be the best flannel/blanket shirt I've ever owned. There are 2 other companies out there who have tried but they do not meet this level of quality, craftsmanship or comfort. I have a feeling I'll be living in this shirt for a while. Well done Engle!!

These shirts impressed me enough that I go several different colors. They are weighty but comfortable either as a light jacket or to wear stand-alone as a nice fall or early spring shirt. For me the sizing seemed a little large. I typically wear a large shirt based on AR sizing, but in this case I needed to size down to a medium (5' 10", 170 lbs). AR was great in terms of dealing with the exchange.

I ordered Uncle Jack’s Flannel and has a hard time choosing which color to get. I picked the green. It arrived a day or two later. It was a little snug but the shirt was incredibly high quality so I did the right thing and returned my green XL and picked up one of each color in XXL. The exchange process was easy. I find myself wishing summer would end so I can wear my AR gear.

The look and feel of this flannel shirt has no comparison. The Bayman flannel is great, what you would expect in a high quality fannel but the blanket flannel is another level. I bought a 2x and it fit great but I wanted more room so I could use it to lounge in on those cool evenings in the summer down at the shore so I got a 3x. There's not much more to say, another fantastic product by Atlantic Rancher

This is a great shirt. Had a cooler weekend to use it and it was perfect. As I run on the warmer-hotter side, it was still warm and yet very breathable. I would also call it a timeless pattern and expect to use it often in the fall.

Fit is great. Sleeves could be a bit shorter. But I usually roll them up once or twice anyway. And, in all fairness, I go a little larger so I can layer. I am looking for my next Atlantic Rancher shirt now.

I purchased the Uncle Jack's Blanket Flannel Shirt in size L, and decided I needed an XL. Atlantic Rancher immediately responded to help me with my return, but then I decided to give the L shirt to my son. I bought an XL for myself. We both agree -- these are the most stylish, high quality, and comfortable flannels we have ever worn. The combination of thick cotton and added linen is incredibly soft, and the hem side button features and shoulder pleats are very unique features.
The compliments we receive are constant, too! Highly recommend this shirt to anyone looking for a medium-weight, super soft, and gorgeous flannel!

Comments: I understand the brand’s adherence to a policy of subtlety in the choice of dyes and colors but in the case of the red linen shirt the color was at odds with its appearance in the ad. In this case I would have preferred a saturated tomato red. Instead it is cream of tomato soup red. When I want a red shirt it want it red. Nevertheless it is so beautifully made I will bow to your esthetic
The 3 shirts and one cotton pullover I’ve bought recently have all been the best quality in choice of cotton and linen fabrics, cut and construction. They realize the claims once made by Filson, Orvis and others to old school quality manufacture, brands now diluted in the reach to provide semi-luxury brands to a mass market. The shirts all justified their relatively high prices and are clearly sturdy and well-sewn enough to last many years as favorite wear. The colors of the “green” blanket flannel plaid are subtle and appeal in their quiet difference from the more familiar palettes. At first I might have wanted a richer “burgundy” in the boatyard shirt but subtlety is the name of the game in these clothes and I appreciate that the shirts are beautiful to wear without calling attention to themselves or me lol.

This flannel in blue caramel is a step above the rest. The look, feel, fit, and color pattern make my favorite flannel I’ve ever purchased. For reference I’m 6 feet and 165-170 and the large fits great. I like it so much, I’m going to buy another as backup in case this color goes out of production. Thanks Engle

I bought this shirt for my husband who drinks coffee in 40 degree weather, 90% humidity, outside no matter what the sky is doing. He loves it.I know cause its always on him. Great style. Very thick, comfortable fabric. Cut slim-ish. I bought a S, for a slight guy, it’s nice to not have buckets of extra around you. Keep up the niceness, the quality, the oh-so spot-on-ness!

1. Where are your products made?
All of our shirts, pants, outerwear, sweater, belts and moccasins are made in Portugal, mostly in the same shops we've been working with for over 25 years. Our hand-sewn leather goods, hats and a few other items are made in America.
2. How would you describe the fit of your clothes?
Our fit is what we call contemporary, meaning they're not overly baggy or boxy, but have ample room and freedom of movement. Also, our outerwear is uninsulated, or very lightly insulated. It's cut with enough room to allow you to layer underneath, with a sweater, a vest or even a light down-filled jacket. For us, layering is always the way to go!
3. Will your shirts and pants shrink after washing?
Simple answer is no. All of our shirts and pants are pre-shrunk. At most you will experience a 2% shrink factor after washing and drying.
4. What is DryHandle®?
Dryhandle® is a 100% cotton, weatherproof fabric that we develop in 1995. Starting with 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton the thread is very tightly woven resulting in a fabric so dense that it's thornproof and, even at this stage, surpasses the U.S. government test for rainwear. The fabric is then impregnated through the proprietary DryHandle® process which irreversibly transforms the cotton fibers themselves to make them inherently water-resistant and stain-resistant. Unlike oiled or waxed cotton fabrics, DryHandle® is extremely lightweight, has no odor, won't stain other clothing or upholstery and resists stains from hard use and long wear. Despite being water-resistant, the weave contains millions of microscopic pores that vent moisture, making DryHandle® garments exceptionally breathable and comfortable to wear.
5. How long does delivery usually take?
Orders received by 2pm PST are usually shipped the same day. In most cases we ship via USPS Priority Package, and orders to the East Coast typically arrive in 4 days or less. West of The Mississippi orders arrive in 2-3 days.
6. How do i reach the founder of the company?

7. If an item is out of stock will you let me when it's available again?
We maintain an active "wait list." So when you send a message asking to be notified when the item, color and size becomes available, we actually do something worthwhile with your request. We catalog your request and email you once the item becomes available again.
8. Who writes your copy and are the stories true?
The answer to the first part of this question is: me, Engle Saez, founder of the company. For part #2...there's an old adage that applies here: "you can't make this shit up." And I will just say that the stories I tell are as true as I can make them and as accurate as my memory allows. That's a true story...
9: Where did the name Atlantic Rancher come from?
The origins of our company's name is a long story, one will share in blog post at some point. But for now, all should know that we are forever grateful to Susan Turner for her original and very creative idea.
10: How do I return or exchange a item?
Returns are easy, but please follow our process. Email us at orders@atlanticrancher.com, include your order number in the subject line and tell us what you'd like to return and why. We'll review your return request and email you a RMA (return merchandise authorization) with the return-to shipping address. Please be sure to package your item(s) thoughtfully so goods aren’t damaged in the process. Select and use the carrier of your choice as return shipping is not covered by us. Please select “signature required” to ensure your return package is receipt confirmed.
We’ll let you know via email when your package has been received, inspected and your refund is issued. Refunds usually take 5-10 business days to process.
If you need to exchange an item, the best process is this: 1. Place a new order for the item you want. 2. Return the item you don't want to us, following the process outlined above.
