Details

BUILT FOR EVERYDAY CRUISING – Whether you're bangin’ around the boatyard or barreling down Highway 9 in a chromed-out fuelie…this jacket becomes your wingman.

CONFIDENCE YOU CAN WEAR – Just something about that free rambling feeling and that out-o’-my way attitude this jacket ignites. It’s comfort you can see, all the way down to your soul.

DURABLE – Same 100% cotton, 10oz. brushed twill as in our 25th Anniversary Boatyard Shirt. Tightly woven to resist abrasions, punctures and tears. Double needle construction. Twill tape reinforcement at stress points. Garment dyed for a relaxed, worn-in look.

FUNCTIONAL Deep, functional hand pockets and chest pockets with snap closure, large enough for any cellphone. Broad, stand-up collar. Doubled up fabric at shoulders, sleeve caps and forearm to elbow.

CLASSIC FIT – This is a classic cut, vintage proportioned jacket that will not be mistaken for a “fashion version” of the ultimate American apparel icon. We crafted this with care and respect for its original builder, Levi Strauss. Close to the torso, high on the waist and adjustable at the hip with Velcro fastener tape.

This jacket is a new addition to the stable of gear birthed at the Marblehead Boatyard, 89 Front Street, between 1995 & 1999, and inspired by the wily cast of characters we fondly recall as the Boatyard Boys: Dinzi, Moose, Lars, Tobi, and a few others we can’t mention.

Story

The Boatyard Trucker

Every spring, after a winter’s long hibernation, bit by bit,
the Marblehead Boat Yard at 89 Front St. in Marblehead, Ma., starts showing signs of life. A tarp taken down here, a ladder leaned up there, piled up snowdrifts in the shadows of drydocked boats slowly giving way to asphalt and sand. But you know it’s all coming together when the season’s first tractor trailer, hauling a 40+ ft. boat, incoming from some far-off locale, attempts the hard left turn at the bottom of State St. onto Front St. And oh, what a scene it can become. Traffic will stall, sometimes for an hour or more, as the rig makes numerous maneuvers to line up just right. Spectators accumulate. And
newbies that don’t understand that rigs with boats in tow still rule in Marblehead, will boil in astonished furry as their inconvenience mounts and
their predicament is ignored. The coolest part is when the boatyard boys are hailed to the scene from the yard just steps up Front St. Like a well-practiced fire brigade, they rush in with wooden poles in hand to prop up the overhead
electrical wires to let the rig pass. It’s orchestrated chaos’s finest hour. And more often than not, the leader of the band and the man behind the wheel is none other than Dinsy (Robert Healy), one of the original Boatyard Boys. In fact, he’s still at it today, going on 30 +yrs…and still wearing that old beat-up, Levi’s denim jacket that inspired our new Boatyard Cruiser.

But let’s be honest: the world doesn’t need another facsimile of this American icon. What sets ours apart and worthy of
consideration is the use of our now legendary, 25th Anniversary Boatyard Shirt fabric…a 100% cotton, 10oz. brushed twill, tightly woven to resist
abrasions, punctures and tears. This build in completely unlined, yet the inward facing seams are taped and finished. The two chest pockets are
thoughtfully sized for today’s cell phones, the handwarmer pockets are deep and purposeful, the two tabs at the hip are adjustable for a custom fit at the hem and are secured with Velcro® fasteners. Sleeve cuffs are broadly expandable and are secured with brass snaps. The collar is tall but pliable and will conform
to adjustment by hand or by attitude of the wearer. Finishing is the secret sauce here, and rests in the craftsman’s hands, literally, as each is garment drum dyed in small batches resulting in a one-of-kind, rugged to the core, purposeful
little gem dimensioned in the style and standard of the original crafted by Levi Strauss well over 100yrs ago.

Best button down I own

Button downs aren’t my style but after seeing these ads and how well made they look and styling I decided to try em out. I like to wear hoodies a lot and when I tried this with a long sleeve hooded shirt to wear outside the fit was really nice and comfortable. Even got compliments on the shirt too. If you can rock button downs these are worth the price. The material just feels sturdy and durable. Kinda like tough canvas
