Let customers speak for us
from 2723 reviewsI wanted to see a full seasons change before leaving this review. From 60s and 70s in Florida, to low 20s in the mountains of VA, this sweater is unmatched. In Florida there will never be a day that beats this sweater, warm yet thermoregulating, I've worn this in 90 degrees and though I do not recommend that, it wasn't as uncomfortable as you'd imagine. I just finished a hunting season in Virginia and had temps in the 60s, and a few days later had snow. This sweater is the TRUTH. I had a lightweight long sleeve shirt, this sweater, and a camo windbreaker on, and would end up needing to open my jacket zipper while sitting in my stand because it was so warm, and with the zipper open, the way this sweater lets out excess heat was pure perfection. At one point, I stalked some deer on foot and ended up crawling on my belly for 50 yards while wearing this sweater, it didn't get covered in debris or foliage somehow, and even though the wind was not in my favor and blowing my scent directly at the deer I was hunting, I managed to crawl into range and get a shot off, wearing this sweater and some pajama pants and slippers. Best camo pattern in the woods is the Lobsterman's sweater. I can't speak highly enough about this sweater and although I likely won't ever need to buy another one thanks to the incredibly high quality, I will certainly be happy to spend some more money with Atlantic rancher Co. 10/10 great products and great company.
I have worked in the outdoor wilderness for decades. I have been a faithful customer of The Filson company up until this year. How I found out about Atlantic Rancher was seeing a sticker on the back window of an SUV and I took a screenshot of it so I could find what kind of product they sold. After I ordered my first shirt and opened the package there was a handwritten personal note from Engle and his wife Victoria welcoming me to there store.
So between the chamois shirt and the customer service I gave Atlantic Rancher another shot with buying my eyeglass container with some more shirts.
My eyeglass container was real solidly built with thick leather and stainless fasteners that held things tightly together.
The flap closes nicely with a pin and clasp that pinches together without coming apart.
My color choice was the dark chestnut that matched my leather key chain.
It’s my very sound decision switching from Filson to Atlantic Rancher. There’s so much quality in their craftsmanship and detail in their designs that I am a forever customer.
It’s also very rare these days to get a hand written Thank you note with each order that I have placed.
Kindly keep what you’re doing and that is putting a smile on my face with whatever gear I’m wearing or carrying
Love you guys
Steve
The first time I ever shopped on this site was two weeks ago. I ordered the 'classic' Outlaw Gunner vest in olive green. Although a tad pricey, the garment is worth every penny. The description turned out to be 100% accurate. It's extremely well-made. I can't wait to return to the Northwest so that I can wear it every day.
These sweatpants are the most durable piece of clothing i have seen in many years
This sweater is impeccable. Big and brawny enough to be practical for transitional seasons but stylish enough that I never want to take it off. Pair it with a nice pair of jeans, boots, sunnies, and a slouchy baseball cap and you’re the coolest dad in Trader Joe’s. I bought the faded red and would like to add navy and charcoal eventually.
Fines wool socks I’ve ever purchased
American Giant used to be good, but are now crap under new ownership. Flint and Timber have a fine fabric, but boxy, short in sleeve and overall length. Atlantic Rancher offers a great thick/solid fabric, longer sleeve/body and is simply the best product overall. The hood shape is awesome - bows out on sides and reminds me of the hoodie I used to rob liquor stores in...
Right out of the package these fit like a well used baseball mitt. Soft comfortable flexible yet sturdy. Absolutely perfect.
I purchased the Hudson Canyon Pullover Hoodie as a gift, and it was a total hit. From the moment it was opened, it was clear this wasn’t just any hoodie. The recipient was thrilled, and I was equally impressed by the quality and attention to detail.
The salt pre-washed fabric gives the color a dimensional look that feels rugged while maintaining rich color. It has a broken-in character right out of the box, without sacrificing structure. The material is thick and substantial, yet incredibly soft to the touch — the kind of hoodie you know will hold up for years while only getting better with wear.
The fit is relaxed but flattering, perfect for layering or lounging. Every stitch feels intentional, and the craftsmanship speaks to a brand that values durability and design in equal measure.
After seeing how much the recipient loved it — and feeling the fabric myself — I’m already planning to order one for myself. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates quality basics with a timeless edge
OK - I stumbled upon the Lobstermen’s Sweater when searching for “the world’s best, heavy sweater” and ignored it at first due to price. But after a few bourbons I decided to give it a try. Man, was it worth every penny. It’s amazing. Beautiful color, chunky but not overly so, soft but tough-looking. I think it’s a forever-sweater. Totally love it. Looking forward to another few bourbons so I can pull the trigger on the other color.
I was so pleased with this hoodie. I've been looking for this type of zip sweatshirt for a long time. This quality used to be available back in the 70's. Very hard to find nowadays. Sure, you could buy four hoodies for what you'll pay for this beauty, but why? This is now my go to coat for spring and fall weather. The fit is spot on for a "large". The material is nice and thick with a very soft nap on the inside. Although the zipper is left over right (odd for men), it's easy to get used to. No gauche logos, just simple refined details throughout. Worth every penny. Will probably order one for my wife next.
Flannel was "oooh....SOFT" out of the box. Washed up even softer. I am 6ft, 225, wear 46R and 35" sleeve. Size XL was right on the money for this shirt. Dig the collar stays. Rapid shipping (even to Alaska!) included a genuine personal note. Solid look, superb comfort with zero goofy flash.
You need a white Seersucker shirt for the warmer climates. But to get one built by AR is the best, room in all the right places, nice collar, and the Seersucker fabric they use is beyond compare. I highly recommend this one. It8 does come in more colors than white which is a plus.
As a tugboat captain working in the northeast this sweater is amazing. It’s not quite cold enough, but I know that this will be the best thing for chilly days. It’s especially hard to find well made sweaters to purchase online, my mother knit me a Guernsey sweater from five ply yarn and this is the closest thing I’ve ever found to it. The real testament is the customer service, Engle will answer any questions you have about his products.
I thought I wanted one of these shirts but was apprehensive whether it was going to live up to its billing, and truthfully, the price. I got way faster than expected and milliseconds after putting it on I was both blown away AND hooked. It is simply perfect. Heavy duty, great fit, warm, handsome, and obviously durable. I fell in love with this shirt. I took it off (reluctantly) and tossed it on the floor. It actually just stayed there, nearly upright. Right then I knew I had made a great purchase. No one makes shirts like this anymore. Atlantic Rancher does. I immediately ordered three more, knowing I had found a set of shirts that would stand up and take it; durability. These three were delivered quickly as well. I had only worn the original shirt once, a few days in a row on my Northern Minnesota smallmouth bass trip, and I got soooo many compliments born from jealousy (from my fishing brothers). They all wanted it. So I came home and ordered my fifth shirt. I like stuff that works, and man does this work!
